Last night a group of aspiring filmmakers, cinematographers, and pixel peepers assembled at the Anthology Film Archives in Manhattan’s East Village to screen footage from an array of the current digital HD video cameras available. There was an emphasis on the Panasonic AF-100, but there was also footage from the GH2, Canon 5D and Canon 7D, the Red, the EX1, and the F3.

The test was to see how this footage holds up on the big screen. The results are in: video cinema is here. This shouldn’t surprise anyone as Hollywood has been making big budget films on video for years.
But now it has arrived for the masses.
