| Citazione: | The inaugural Angkor Photography Festival was held in October, 2005 in Siem Reap, Cambodia, and was the first of its kind organized in Southeast Asia. The goals of this international annual gathering are both artistic and humanitarian.
With this principle in mind, in addition to the fourteen major exhibitions and seven photo-projection evenings, a group of artists and reporters also volunteered to organize a free workshop for young photographers from the region as well as a photo-dance workshop for a group of underprivileged street children from the town of Siem Reap. The children are beggars because they come from homes with parents who are HIV+ or are the victims of land mine injuries.
This page will be used to show the exhibitions from the festival, as well as work produced in the workshops and street children project, and will allow Flickr members to comment on the work.
We will also be showing work gathered from the contest on our Flickr group of the same name (Angkor Photography Festival) and winners' work will be shown at one of the slide projections in Siem Reap. The Angkor Photography Festival highlights not only the best of international photography but also hopes to reach out to the Flickr community, drawing in both the work of amateurs and photo-enthusiasts thereby connecting the work of professional and amateur photographers.
We hope you will join us in our enthusiasm for photography at one of the world's great treasures, Angkor Wat, for the Angkor Photography Festival from November 25th to December 1st, 2006.
